Navigating the Volatile Crypto Market: Reflections and Insights
Reflections on Recent Crypto Market Trends
Good afternoon, my degenerate crypto friends. How are you doing this fine afternoon? I'm doing great because crypto finally pumped last week, and I was up a few thousand. I was really happy. However, once crypto pumped, it seemed like everything was dead. People were saying crypto was over, and everyone was pessimistic. Then, after just three days of pumping, every post on Twitter was about how we're going to "melt faces" and have the biggest bull market ever. It's always the same nonsense, and I started blocking people who post that kind of thing. Even people who are usually levelheaded, like Wendio, were super optimistic.
The truth is, I'm currently losing in crypto. But I'm positioned so that if we have a decent recovery, I should be in profit and could make some good money. If you're not into crypto yet, I wouldn't suggest getting into it. It's too volatile and risky. You never know when to sell. I've round-tripped my gains before. In 2021, I had great gains that were almost wiped out because I didn't sell and made poor decisions. In early 2023 and 2024, I had better gains because I bought when everything was cheap, like when Solana went from very low to almost 300. I bought it at 15, 20, 12, and 11. But I didn't sell because I thought the bull market would last longer, and I got wiped out again. This time, I didn't sell; I kept holding and started accumulating more when everything was cheap.
The Challenges of Investing in Crypto
Crypto is very difficult to make money in because it's so volatile. You can buy thinking it's cheap, but it can drop much more. That's the truth of crypto. I wasn't sure if I would keep making these videos because I'm new, and nobody follows me. But I realized crypto needs me because too many people are spreading garbage information. I got into crypto because I saw it as a new technology, similar to when I got into the internet early and started making websites. It went well for me then, and I saw the same opportunity in crypto in 2021. I didn't want to miss the train, even though I somewhat missed the Bitcoin train. I still believe we can make good money with some blockchains and layer ones if they get good adoption.
However, there's a risk of many companies making their own blockchains, which could affect profits. People get too bullish and make unrealistic predictions about going to the moon. In crypto, you can have moments where it goes up, but it's hard to know when to sell because you don't know how long it will last. Recently, things have calmed down after a period of extreme optimism. Some altcoins like Solana pumped back up over 100, which is exciting because I bought it cheap. But now, people are getting a bit pessimistic again. You don't need to be overly optimistic or pessimistic. Crypto is a great technology, useful for finance, and getting adoption in traditional financial systems. Many are buying ETFs, Solana, Ethereum, and Bitcoin, which suggests future potential.
Advice for Crypto Investors
Don't believe the hype about everything going 50x or 100x. Maybe some big coins could go up 10x, but it's hard to know when to sell. If you haven't started in crypto, don't get in. If you're already in it like me, stay optimistic. I think it's still pretty cheap, and I would still buy some. Avalanche, for example, is low and getting good adoption. A big brokerage firm created an ETF for Avalanche, Solana, and others, which could indicate potential growth. But don't believe the nonsense about the market going crazy. If you get a 3x, 4x, or 5x return, take it and run. Next time the market pumps and I have good profit, I'm out. That's all I wanted to say today.
